Kicking Squirrels (Kilmarnock)   7-3   KaisAYR (Ayr United)
Saturday, 23rd July, 2005 Friendly
Kaisayr finished the season with a disappointing 7-3 defeat at the hands of arch-rivals Killie IFC in the Ayrshire Cup.

The Honestmen were up against it from the start and found themselves three-nil down within the space of twenty minutes. Killie could have run away with the game but Andrew Gamble pulled a goal back for Kaisayr only minutes after Ayr had looked dead and buried at 3-0. The young winger nodded in at the back-post after the Killie keeper failed to claim Alastair Cole's in-swinging corner kick.

Ayr looked to grab another quick goal but it was Kilmarnock who extended their lead when debutant keeper Chris Carroll committed a foul inside the box. Carroll dived low to his right to save the spot kick but the sleepy Kaisayr didn't react and the rebound was buried with aplomb. The retiring Eddie Main made way for Gary McNeill and the midfielder brought his side back in to the tie with a low shot deflecting in off a Killie defender to make it 4-2 at half-time.

Ayr made tactical switches at half-time and these paid dividends as the Honestmen scored after a succession of corner kicks. Alastair Cole played the ball short to Gary McNeill and his cross was accidentally headed into the net by a Killie player to make it 4-3.

Kaisayr looked capitalise on their superior possession and chances but they were often exposed in defence and Killie made them pay with a late flurry of spectacular goals. Kaisayr's replacement keeper, Fab, had kept the home side at bay with a series of stunning stops but he could do nothing as Killie ran out eventual 7-3 winners to life the Ayrshire Cup and leave the Kaisayr trophy cabinet bare.
