John Dalton was the original Kaisayr number one. A solid and dependable goalkeeper whos appearances for the side were disrupted due to injury, he is remembered as the first 'keeper to keep a clean sheet for the side in a 4-0 IFA Cup win over Donny R'Sonists of Doncaster Rovers. He also played between the sticks in the team that recorded Kaisayr's first ever victory - against Airdrie in October 1999.
'Hovis' - as he was known for his reminiscing back over Ayr United's history - was also the man responsible for naming the club, coming up with the idea of 'KaisAYRslautern' after the German team of a similar name had sent Kilmarnock crashing out of Europe.
