A dominating central defender, Dougie proved an excellent addition to the squad during the summer of 2004. His aerial presence and composure with the ball at his feet made him a regular in the side. Douglas was a regular threat in the opposition penalty area also, and would often get on the end of set pieces, either scoring or assisting. Douglas' best performance for Kaisayr came in Milan when combining with Stuart Bell at the heart of the defence to shut out an excellent Muratidentro side, in a 2-0 win.
Douglas, although no longer playing is now involved in the running of Ayr United Amateurs.
