KaisAYR (Ayr United)   1-8   Ayr United AFC (Ayr United)
Wednesday, 16th August, 2006 Friendly
KaisAYR suffered a heavy defeat to the recently formed, Ayr United Amateurs in a fiery friendly at KG5.

Missing several of the players who had suffered an unlucky defeat at the hands of Braes Bairns from Falkirk at the weekend, KaisAyr managed to field a starting eleven, with Eddie Main doing us a favour by guesting for the side he captained the season before last as a sub.

Starting in goal was debutant Lee McDowall and he had a decent first outing until he had to leave just before half-time. By this point KaisAyr were 2-0 down after a couple of excellent strikes by the amateurs superb front man.

Martin Shields had come closest for KaisAyr with a snapshot just past the upright, with one or two other half-chances being made.

With firstly Dave Vital, then big Si taking a shot in goals, the amateurs were able to wrack-up a few more goals in the second half, with former KaisAyr player Dougie Cameron putting the amateurs 3-0 up.

KaisAyr's only moment of consolation came from the penalty spot after Pete Noble was held back by Graeme Wright in the opposing goal. The KaisAyr number ten made no mistake from the spot to bring the score back to 3-1.

Former KaisAyr player Grant Sherwin added a couple of goals, while the impressive Bradford also found his way onto the scoresheet as a demoralised KaisAyr hoped the final whistle would arrive.

Kenny Paterson swapped sides in the second half to replace Grammy who felt a twinge, whilst another amateurs player helped out when Simon Smith went in goals to replace Dave Vital.

All in all, a game to quickly forget when we get back to league business with a trip to the red ash in Greenock to take on Morton Internet Supporters Club.
