Kaisayr met Barclay Henderson Select on Saturday in a friendly game to keep things ticking over prior to a return to league duty next week.
With several regulars missing, gaffer Eddie Main was able to give some non-regular and newer players a chance to stake a claim. Kaisayr started well with Gamble’s pace causing problems and the pint sized striker was unlucky twice in the opening minutes not to give the Ayr United supporters the lead. Ashton Wright was next to try his luck – seeing his angled shot go narrowly wide.
Kaisayr didn’t have it all their own way however, Barclays’ winger Bobby was a persistent thereat and striker Johnny forced a good save from Kyle Mackay.
The second period saw the introduction of debutants Ian McIntyre and Chris Reid . As Kaisayr settled in to the game Warnock forced a corner after some good interplay with Chris – the Warhorse took the corner and Gamble nipped in to bullet a header in to the net to give Kaisayr the lead.
Barclays almost equalised a few minutes later when Kyle Mackay did well to push a scorching free kick over the bar.
It was a pivotal moment as minutes later Kaisayr went two up. Warnock did well to go past two players and fire a shot on target, Barclay’s keeper Lee McDowall got down well to save but as the rebound came out Matt Noble was on hand to loop his header over the stranded keeper for his first goal of the season.
Barclays continued to compete, but Kaisayr were in the ascendancy in the last fifteen minutes and only some poor finishing prevented a bigger win.
